Music to get you through

Home Background Profiles Journal Photos Music Sections Links

This is a misc. bit on some of our favorite bands and musicians. Without their music I'm not sure how we would manage to get through life. It definitely be far more boring.

NOFX - Great punk band, been around for quite a while now. A lot of their songs make me laugh, and will always cheer me up. Worth checking out if you're into any sort of punk music.
The Offspring - A really cool punk rock band also been around for ages. Gav is proud, as he has all their albums. Their style is fast and sometimes even faster. You should be able to recognize any song that they do, from their unique style and vocals. They have gone through a few phases and have come full circle, back to their earlier style. I would personally advise getting their album "Ixnay on the Hombre".
Less Than Jake - One hell of a ska punk band, been around for a few good years. They have tons of cool songs, just try any one of them, I'm quite sure you'll like it if you into the genre.
Reel Big Fish - Another really good ska band. They have some great songs and they have made some cool covers. For instance, I never liked "Take on me" by Aha that much, but I love Reel Big Fish's version of it. Should try their song "Beer", which was used on the film "Baseketball".
Dragon Ash - A really cool Japanese band, they do a lot of different styles of music; Hip-Hop, Nu-Metal, Punk, Rap and the list goes on. In all, I like them very much. Check em' out.
GLAY - Very cool J-Rock band, as you can see we like them a lot, just by the amount of midi's of their songs we have used on our site. However, their standard of music has dropped a bit. Still, their music before 2001 is definitely worth checking out.
X-JAPAN - One of the original Japanese rock bands, these guys are kinda like living legends in Japan. Their guitarist Hide, went on to do some good solo stuff, but later committed suicide around 1998. They played various metal and rock, but they also did some rock ballads which was featured in the manga film "X".
Luna Sea - Another very cool J-Rock band, they have a lot of very cool songs. However, they have broken up now. Still, their music is definitely worth checking out.
Blink 182 - Who can forget "All The Small Things", these guys have been around, and their album or music is always close to my stereo, or in my play list. Must check out their song, "Family Reunion" for a great laugh, we managed to get this Blink 182 tribute guy we saw while on our road trip to sing it in a pub full of people.
Slipknot - The metal band from Iowa, USA. Everyone must of at least heard of them. They are one hell of a talented band if you're into metal. I wasn't too sure about them, until I went to see them live. That was the point where I decide that they are definitely good.
Earth, Wind and Fire - This is a funny one, we're both kinda secretly like these old disco legends, Gav even saw them live. They have like 12 members all in the band. One for all you disco lovers out there.
Motorhead - Well, a great band that have been around for ages, and no one is really gonna stop them from carrying on. With a song like "Ace of Spades", they have set their name in music history.
Spineshank - A cool metal band, have done some really cool songs. I am a proud owner of their second album "The Height of Callousness". Definitely worth checking out if you're into the whole metal genre.
Prodigy - I'M A FIRE STARTER!!!
Hi-STANDARD - A really cool Japanese Punk band that sing in English. They've done loads of brilliant covers, for instance they have this really cool cover of the Pink Panther theme. Of course they do also write a lot of cool songs as well.
Foo Fighters - These guys absolutely kick ass. This band started all with the drummer from Nirvana, Dave Grohl. Their albums "Colour and shape" and "Nothing Left To Lose" are just amazing, can't beat songs like "Monkey Wrench" and "Breakout". Dave Grohl also later helped start another band called "Queens of the Stone Age".
Smashmouth - Gotta be said, "Walking on the Sun", "Why Can't We Be Friends?" and who can forget "Allstar", these songs have got to be heard.
Voodoo Glow Skulls - This is just hard-core ska, takes a lil while to actually get into their songs, I found, but overall I do like them quite a bit. "SKA!!!!!"
